As the quality and precision of reloading equipment has advanced in the last few years (AMP Annealers, AutoTricklers, Giraud Trimmers, IDOD Neck Turners, Primal Rights Priming Tools) we have watched companies overlook the core of the bench – the press. In late 2019 we began R&D on perfecting the precision reloading press – and we are happy to introduce the ZERO. It is the embodiment of our pursuit of ZERO tolerance reloading, with ZERO friction. The turret press also works toward ZERO variance in die setup. It will have ZERO equal on the market.
Milled from all-American billet aluminum and stainless steel, this press moves with the help of 14 bearings, including a self-lubricating linear sleeve bearing, guiding the precision-ground 1.25″ ram with less than .0006″ of diametric clearance. Each press is hand measured and fitted, mating the ram and the bearing, ensuring the most precise ram stroke on the market – ZERO doubt about that. The linkage system will also glide on bearings and custom hardware which will allow us to assemble the system with near-ZERO slop. The operation of the oversized ram, with the .75″ steel arm and ZERO-friction knob will be unlike anything you’ve ever experienced.
The turret system will be secured using a, over-sized, custom-made ZERO-point pull-stud, and the turret will be located using an oversized ball-detent system. Changing the position of the turret from one die to another will require only a turn of a (supplied) t-handle. When indexing the turret, repeatability variance of the system will be less than .0005″.
The opening in the press will allow for sizing and seating of cases up to 338LM, and will accept standard 7/8″ dies and standard shellholders (we prefer the Redding). The press CAN be used for Cheytac-class reloading, but may (depending on your die setup and bullet length) require you to “scoop” the bullet into the seating die and down into the case before seating.
Using factory shellholders there will be a small amount of float available to account for uncontrollable 3rd party tolerances. We will also be making and selling shellholders specifically fit to the system at a later time.
We have designed a decapping/primer-catch system into the body of the press, eliminating goofy surgical hoses and baby food-like jars. A simple slide-out tray will make this mundane process smooth, simple, and unobtrusive.
We will ship all presses with a standard bolt-down plate, but will also have available Inline Fabrication plates for the system that will mount seamlessly.

If Apple made a reloading press, this would be it. I own 2 other turret presses that are well known in the precision/benchrest community, and this press addresses some of the small niggles I have with them. It was interesting how the muscle memory I developed using the other presses showed how much more efficient the Zero is in terms of armature layout and geometry. My favorite feature is the primer catch tray since my other presses either used an aquarium tube where the spent primers would sometimes fall out the ram opening every so often, or having to use a wide enough box to account for the seemingly random area the other press would divert them. It’s because of the spent primer system on the Zero, there is no more nasty spent primer dust accumulating on the ram linkage. Since the press is anodized and machined smooth, there’s no wrinkle powder coating where primer dust can also accumulate. The Zero appeals to both hemispheres of the brain. This is the epitome of Made in America!

I mainly load for PRS and long-range precision hunting – so volume is secondary to consistency. This press is simply amazing. I have more mechanical leverage and yet retain the feel of an inline arbor press setup. I can load faster with high repeatability using Short Action Custom die.
The only thing I’d note is that there isn’t as much working room in between the ram and the press when extended all the way up say, when compared to single stage press. I had to change how I manipulate components but not a big deal.
Lastly, I noticed with depriming that sometimes primers won’t fall down the back chute and stay either at the top of press or fall off the side – no biggie since I’m thinking of dedicating an old single stage press for dedicated decapping. Don’t want all that primer dust munging things up on such a nice press.

The press far exceeds my expectations. Everything about it is beefy and designed to last. I like the locking turret head with zero play for reloading for my rifles. The press isn’t cheap but once you open the box you can understand why. The R&D that went into creating this press is evident. Even the shipping box is high end with stiff, solid foam. I am glad I bit the bullet, pun intended, and ordered it. I bought an extra turret head as well for future use. I highly recommend the Zero Press as an investment if you are really into reloading.

Awesome press! Sure beats the heck out of my Redding T7 press in terms of repeatability and stability. I love not having that silly spent primer tube hanging down between my legs anymore. On the Zero, I added some anti chafe tape to the sides and bottom of the spent primer tray. The tray now slides silently in and out, fits with a satisfying amount of friction and won’t ruin the beautiful finish. My only suggestion is perhaps Area419 could come up with a clever way to stow, store, hang the wrench that comes with zero die rings on the press somewhere.

I was working on .45 ACP when I noticed I needed to load 4 more rounds of .223. I just spun the turret as everything was already set up and in place, worked on those 4 rounds and went right back to my .45 ACP project. 306 rounds of .284 win with less than 1/2 thousandth run out. All I can say is WOW! I’ve been reloading since 1968 and have used too many presses to even remember, well over a dozen. I was a member of the NBRSA and shot competitively in the mid 70’s and I still shoot in local competitions, so I appreciate excellent reloading equipment. Over the years it seems like there have been major improvements to almost all of the equipment with the exception of the press itself. Sure some are better than others, but until I tried the Zero Press I didn’t appreciate accurate and advanced a reloading press could be. If I took a lot of time setting up both my neck sizing and bullet seating dies, I could get within .001 runout on both the case and the seated bullet. Not bad, but once I setup my dies in the Zero Press the runout went down to .0005!!!! Plus I can leave them setup in the turret, so I don’t have to go through the process every time. The only system that even comes close is using an L.E. Wilson bullet seating die and a K&M Precision Arbor Press which really slows down the process.
One last item is the beautiful packaging you do on everything I’ve purchased so far. Please keep up the excellent work and keep developing innovative products.

Something about it just feels ‘right’ and you won’t understand until you try one. I love using this so much I actually sold my entire Dillon 750 setup and this is now my only press for everything I do.

First off I am still just starting out reloading. Its something I have wanted to get into for a long time, and I have been looking at a turret press for a while just because I could leave my dies setup long term I only reload a few calibers anyway. I’m really happy at how smooth the zero is I have beat up joints so its really nice. I wish it was quicker to change positions but I like how repeatable this system is so I can live with the rotation the way it is. My only real gripe Is I had to grind down the head of one of the supplied bolts so I could put the primer catch tray in. My guess is that will get fixed and subsequent iterations wont have that problem. The last thing I like is leverage this thing has a ton of leverage so I know I pushed hard enough to resize brass, no guessing here.

I’m not sure why it took somebody so long to make a truly precision machined press, but I’m glad 419 finally did it for us. This press is something special that’s been designed and manufactured to tightest of tolerances you won’t find with Forester, RCBS, Redding, Dillon, etc. This is my 5th press to add to my reloading bench replacing my current precision king, the Forester Co-Ax.
Measuring runout with a 21st Centrury tool on loaded Berger VLD bullets, I’m seeing about half the runout I was seeing with the Co-Ax.
Is it worth it? I guess that’s subjective. I got the same question from people with I bought the AMP annealer. It’s expensive, but you get what you pay for. And just like the AMP, if the Zero was stolen today, I’d buy another Zero tomorrow.
If you’re going to precision reload, then buy a precision reloading tool. Remove the variables in your equation and you’ll get better results. Will it make you shooter tighter groups? Maybe not, but you’ll know that it’s not your equipment holding you back.
It’s the best press money can buy, no contest.

I’ve been thoroughly impressed with the Zero since it has arrived. There is no slop anywhere in the system. Fit and finish is absolutely top notch. I’ve yet to shoot ammo loaded with the Zero yet, but I’ve been able to compare measurements on loaded ammo versus my other press. The ES has been cut in half on all measurements taken, so I can assume velocity spreads and accuracy will replicate this consistency. Something. I wasn’t expecting was the comfort while using the press. After many hours in front of it, there’s less fatigue and far less effort using this press compared to my other one. Would recommend this press 10/10. Another home run from the Area 419 team!

Well worth the money. Very tight tolerances, super smooth operation. There isn’t any play in the linkage, and the bearings in the linkage make it smooth and can feel any change in pressure while sizing or seating. Lives up to the name “zero”. Zero adjustments need to be made when switching back and forth between dies/calibers once you’ve set them up.
