At Area 419 we became frustrated with undersized or cheap-feeling powder cups. As the Auto-Trickler system became more popular, and the Auto-Throw system was added, we needed something that was up to the task from both a function and form standpoint.
Introducing, the Area 419 Billet Powder Cup. Lathe spun from billet 6061 Aluminum and weighing in at just over 700 grains this cup has a water weight capacity of more than 750 grains and will allow you to throw nearly three full 50BMG loads into the cup at once.
Of course you aren’t going to triple-charge a 50 cal like an idiot, but the over-sized cup will contain powder and splash from dispensers that are dropping powder from above, provided you use them with some sort of flow-slowing device (like the straws that come in the Auto-Throw kit). Nothing short of about a 5″ cup can contain splash if you’re dropping from above with no restriction.
It can also function as a shot glass for you deplorables out there, but that’s not why we designed it.
Cup is roughly 2″ in diameter and 2″ tall. The handle sticks out about 3″.

I’m completely confused how this could be given 5 stars. Yes, it is machined amazingly. Yes, it is super light. But no, it does not work well with the AutoTrickler V4. I wish it did. It does not. This is well known on forums like snipershide. When using a fine kernel powder like TAC, you will absolutely be throwing kernels all over the scale no matter where you place the cup under the discharge funnel. Makes no difference. You’ll get kernels that bounce out of the A419 cup. The stock glass cup does not do this. And if you pay attention to the design, you’ll see why. The AutoTrickler cup slopes inwards to provide a gentle sloping so that nothing bounces off the bottom. The A419 cup does not do this and powder just hits the bottom. The bottom of the cup is machined with a slight slope but this isn’t anywhere near what it needs to be to prevent small kernels like TAC from bouncing out. This cup needs a redesign. The stock glass cup functions flawlessly … but is nowhere as nice, light, or static resistant as the A419 one.

Great product. Very happy with it. The only thing I would mention, and this is my fault, but be sure to wipe it down with some degreaser or alcohol before using. Mine had some residual cutting fluid or oil of some kind on the inside which caused the first powder charge to stick to the inside of the cup.

The usual spectacular quality for Area 419 is on full display with this powder cup, so why only 4 stars? Users of the Auto Trickler V4 should be aware you will have to move the cup guide on the scale further back to center the 419 cup under the powder dispenser, this is a P.I.T.A. as you have to gently remove it from its adhesive and carefully align it in another spot. Also powder dispensed into the 419 cup bounces out more than the OEM cup leaving granules around the scale. Lastly VV N133 always leaves a few granules stuck to the bottom of the cup.

Nice, large capacity.. Unfortunately it seems to have static cling as after dumping the charge, several individual grains are left on the sides of the cup typically greater than 10 individual pieces. Tried cleaning the cup, drying but the results were the same, static cling.

I found this powder cup to be perfect for my needs. I use an A&D 120i scale for measuring my powder and this cup fits perfectly between the top of the scale and the plate. I also use a Dandy Trickler for loads and put both, the cup and trickler tube through the same wind screen opening. The powder cup it self is great. It’s very light and is deep enough to keep powder from bouncing out. And the handle is the perfect length for getting the cup to the center of the plate on my scale. I’m waiting on the V3 Auto Trickler system to arrive, which will make reloading a lot easier. Until then, this powder cup is making everything work perfectly. If you are on the fence about getting one like I was, do your self a favor and get it. I know it’s expensive, but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. And this is worth it.

I like everything about this with one exception, it would be nice if the handle wasn’t at a 90 degree angle to the cup, rather a slight upward, a bend like some silverware or just moving the handle half way up the cup would be helpful to give users more finger room when inserting it into tight spaces.

This thing is awesome! Many powder cups are so small that you have a hard time grabbing ahold of the cup worrying you might accidentally spill your powder that you just weighed. Not with this powder cup! There is a large handle that makes this thing the perfect addition to my A&D FX120i scale. It does sit a little higher then your typical powder cup so if you’re not running an autotrickler then you’ll want to make a base for your normal trickler as they won’t sit high enough with it on your scale. Other than that, you won’t regret purchasing this powder cup.

I was previously using a stainless steal 1/4cup from a set of measuring cups. I had to cut the handle down for it to balance on it’s own. While I did not see any issues in accuracy, it definitely took a couple extra seconds on every throw to settle. With the Area 419 cup my Auto-Trickler set up now throws charges faster than I can seat bullets. The reloading flow is never interrupted waiting for the scale to finish. This cup doesn’t wobble at all and the powder settles instantly. Once again leaning on Area 419 has lead to another very satisfying purchase that I have 0 complaints about! This cup is frickin awesome. It pretty much eliminates powder bouncing out, and has more weight than the plastic cup so it’s more stable and harder to spill. Works great with the billet base for the trickler when the straw is adjusted like the last reviewer said. It seems like it makes the autothrowertrickler run faster, and I know it runs better because there’s less static. Great product!

FYI, adjust your straw drop tube to have a significant bend to slow powder down and direct the output to the lower 1/3 of the cup to create a sort of “swirled”

This cup is awesome! The machining is first rate and the smooth round bottom of the cup will eliminate “powder bounce” if you adjust the straw correctly. I have not used it with every type of powder but I have no reason to think I can’t adjust the “trickler” to make powder bounce a non issue.
