Description

As we have done round after round of press testing, both with the ZERO and other presses, we have known that the very best way to get consistent sizing time and again is to have contact between the shellholder and the die. This removes your ability, however, to dial in your shoulder bump – until now. With the new ZERO Modular Shellholder System you can set up your shellholder to your die and have more consistency, more repeatability, and less hassle. It’s a win-win-win.

Available in either a Zero specific mounting system or a traditional shellholder this allows you to dial in should bump with a set of 6 precision ground stainless steel inserts .002″ at a time.

The Kit comes with:
– A Base (meant for ZERO or Traditional presses, your choice)
– THREE Shellholder/Extractor tops, sized for 223 (.384″ Bolt Face), 308 (.470″ Bolt Face), Standard Magnum (.540″ Bolt Face) or similar
– SIX Precision Ground headspace inserts ranging from +.002″ to -.008″
– Aluminum Storage Block

    The good news is that it will accommodate my 6.5×55 brass. the “shims” track very precisely the movement needed. The only issue is for chambers that are not SAMMI. Then your die is still off the shell holder until the custom die comes in. The great news is that the zero press is extremely repeatable so my headspace didn’t change more than 0.0005 which could be tolerances in annealing.

    I think the system is of good design in engineering, fit and finish. I would havevrated the set as a 5 had the magnet not fallen out of the tool with first use without being dropped or misused.

    This is a big improvement over the Redding Competition Shell Holder Set. I had to purchase three and mix and match to get the differences to be CLOSE to the .002 its supposed to be. On top of the, the other shell holders referenced off the standard shell holder. So if that ever gets marred or lost and you need a new one, you could be out of spec. This on the other hand uses the same shell holder – so that measurement never changes, the only thing that does is the plate. When I first got these I took out the tube micrometer and the claimed tolerance differences were in the ten-thousands range! When put on a Redding Instant Indicator (not as sensitive but sensitive enough to measure shoulder set back), everything was within spec. So pretty much it works as advertised – which again – was no easy feat in the past. Well worth the wait.

    Good product. Only feed back I have is if there was a small magnet to hold in each of the shims that would be great. This would prevent all of them from going flying when you knock this off your reloading bench.

    These work great and are machined very well. Measured them and they are spot on 2 thou increments. You will still need to slightly over cam your dies to the shell holder and then adjust with the inserts to find your bump. I made the mistake of just running the die down to touch the shell holder. Then it dawned on me to screw down a little further. Allows for very consistent shoulder set back. Wish they made more shell holder sizes for the ARC etc family of cartridges.
